Reviews have slowed to a trickle, probably because readers see most of their points already covered. But here’s two that have come in in the last month:

Very informative and made me aware of myself as well as the person I have in my life and where we may both be coming from and things that can be worked on. There is hope.

I’ve been (it turns out) with an avoidant/dismissive for around 10 years — this book brought me peace because it described his behaviors with such eerie perfection. I was able to understand why our relations had always been tumultuous and why it was okay to leave.

Avoidant: How to Love (or Leave) a Dismissive Partner is the best seller in my little stable of books, mostly because it addresses a deep need. Another review just came in:

5.0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL AND INSIGHTFUL BOOK, January 3, 2015
By Dina Hill

This book is wonderful. I have been in a long term relationship for years and we never seem to get it right or communicate properly which has left much confusion in the relationship and caused regular break ups. I found that I am in a relationship with a Dismissive and everything I tried to rebuild the relationship after each break up (because yes we always end up back together) generally made it worse in the end. After reading this book, I understand his personality type and mine and am so much more understanding than I was before. This book has given me a lot of hope and a willingness not to give up on the relationship. Understanding myself and the things I do and how they reflect on the dismissive has really opened my eyes. This book gives not only insight but the tips on how to handle your issues as well as theirs to possibly receive your happy ending or at the very least recognize your personalty type so you can work on it if you need to in order to be healthier for the next relationship.

This a fantastic book for anyone who has dealt with a withdrawn or difficult personality. I have read the author’s prior book which discussed the different types of attachment a person can have. This book deals with the more difficult type Aviodant. It was a readible explanation of this particular type, the patterns exhibited and best of all sage advice on how to proceed if you realize you are dealing with one. I highly recommend this book to all.
