Canon EOS 5D Mark III 22.3 MP Full Frame CMOS with 1080p Full-HD Video Mode Digital SLR Camera (Body) My new camera, high-end full-frame SLR prosumer model that matches the even more expensive pro cameras. Very good in minimal light, super responsive, excellent for HD video production. It’s cheaper to buy the body separately and add lenses from other good manufacturers like Tamron which don’t have the price premium of Canon lenses.

Gear Head Blue Tooth Laser Mouse for Mac Book, White with Silver Accents (BT9400WHT) Great little mouse for laptop use; without it I would hardly be able to post while traveling.

8 Oz Bilberry Powder By Aspen Naturals® (Bilberry P.e. 4:1 Powder). Freeze-dried Superfood. Botanical Name: Vaccinium Uliginosum L. Other Names: European Blueberry, Huckleberry, Whortleberry, Whinberry. This Powdered Extract Is Commonly Used in Tea, Smoothies, Jam, and Is Often Combined with Lutein. Blueberries are very good for you, but I can’t keep fresh ones around easily, so I add a little bilberry powder to my cottage cheese or protein shake daily.

The End Is Near and It’s Going to Be Awesome: How Going Broke Will Leave America Richer, Happier, and More Secure. Williamson writes well and this book is both entertaining and useful — how to prepare yourself for the coming “soft bankruptcy” of the US, and reasons to be optimistic about what might seem really grim. Don’t worry, be prepared!

Kirkland Signature Glucosamine HCI 1500mg Chondroitin Sulfate 1200mg 220 Tablets. Cost-efficient glucosamine-chondrotin supplement. The studies are mixed, but rarely long-term or high-dose; I’m pretty sure they help, from personal use and noting how my joints begin to ache when I stop taking it. I take 4 of these tablets a day (morning and evening.)

NOW Foods 5-HTP 100mg, 120 VCaps. A natural sedative and precursor of tryptophan, 5-HTP. I take two of these every night before bed; they seem to help me sleep through the night.

Fiber One Twin Pouch, 16.2 Ounce (Pack of 6). If you need a cereal, this is probably the healthiest: very high in fiber, very low in carbs. Perfect for diabetics and those who want to avoid becoming diabetic. It uses a bit of the artificial sweetener sucralose, but it works for me. Don’t be fooled by the line extensions, which have much higher carbs and aren’t much healthier than other cereals.

Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard, Double Rich Chocolate, 10 Pounds Bags. A diet mainstay, this is my favorite whey protein powder. I eat three regular meals a day and have a protein shake in the afternoon and before bed to keep protein levels up 24×7. The chocolate variety tastes good, digests well, and mixes easily with either milk or water. Good quality protein is not cheap.

 

NOW Foods Melatonin 3mg, High Quality, 180 Capsules. Melatonin is very helpful in getting to sleep, especially as you get older and natural melatonin levels drop. For maximum effectiveness, I empty the capsule’s powder under my tongue, which allows some direct absorption there and tends to release the melatonin slowly. I’ve always had problems getting to sleep, and this habit helps a lot.

Earthlite Luna Portable Massage Table Package, Mystic Blue. The best lightweight portable massage table on the market; sturdy enough for rugged use yet light enough to carry easily.

Biotone Dual Purpose Massage Creme 68oz. The best massage cream on the market, used by the pros. Lightweight and nongreasy, with a pleasant aroma and easy washoff.

Mens Poly Stringer Tank Top by Pitbull in Black, Medium. Be sure to choose the correct size, tanks for lifting are often better one size larger than normal shirts. This one is old-school, about as cool and light as possible while still meeting gym dress codes. Modern fiber, will last much longer and be cooler than cotton. Great for Palm Springs and other warm climates.

Mohu Leaf Paper-Thin Indoor HDTV Antenna. Super HD digital broadcast antenna, great for receiving local channels when you cut the cord and give up cable TV. Check what channels are available in your location before going this route; in flat urban areas there are usually lots, but mountainous or suburban-rural areas will have less.

NOW Foods Gaba Pure Powder, 6 Ounces. Another aid to sound overnight sleep, GABA is a natural neurotransmitter already present in your brain; by boosting it a little, you can achieve deeper and longer sleep. I dissolve a gram or so in the protein shake I drink before bedtime and sleep more deeply, and thereby wake after 7 hours refreshed.

Philips Norelco BG2040/34 BodyGroom 7100. Excellent body groomer – shaver. One shaving head and one grooming head (which also does beard trimming.) Doesn’t irritate even the most sensitive areas Down Below!

Philips Sonicare HX6511/50 EasyClean Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush. Superior cleaning around the gum line. Daily use has kept me from a family tendency to gum disease for many years now. Best in conjunction with regular flossing or the Sonicare AirFloss.

Philips Sonicare HX8211/02 Airfloss Rechargeable Electric Flosser. Not quite as effective as regular flossing, but much faster and easier — if you seem never to get around to flossing, use this instead. It takes some time to get use to it, and accidentally pushing the button when it’s not properly placed will cover you and your mirrors with spatter! But once you get good at it, you can floss in under a minute.

Kinivo BTH240 Bluetooth Stereo Headphone – Supports Wireless Music Streaming and Hands-Free calling (Black) [Update July 2016] The successor to the headphones I previously recommended for workouts. Great low-cost (c. $25) Bluetooth headphones for exercise, making it easy to use your phone for cordless music while exercising. Good sound, long life battery (I only have to charge mine once a month!), sturdy yet compact when folded, works for phone calls using iPhone or similar.

Bar Keepers Friend® Cleanser & Polish: 12 OZ. A hard-to-find older cleansing product that does a few things no other cleaner does: oxalic acid can remove metal stains on porcelain and other surfaces (those gray streaks caused by metal utensils) when no other cleaner will.

Canon PowerShot G16 12.1 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom and 1080p Full-HD Video. Super mid-sized non-SLR camera with fantastic low-light capability and superior picture quality. Great for traveling and casual use.

Hearos Ultimate Softness Series Foam Earplugs, 20-Pair Since my sleep is easily disturbed, I often wear earplugs to sleep. I even wear them working out in those metalhead gyms where weightbanging noise gets too loud. These are comfy and cheap — they lose effectiveness after a few weeks of use, but are cheap enough to dispose of. Can let you sleep in that crowded neighborhood or near a snoring partner. Lifechanging if you need them.

VIZIO E600i-B3 60-Inch 1080p LED Smart TV. When I bought a TV last year, this was the brand I settled on; Vizio’s smart TVs are the best quality for the lowest price I could find, and the one I bought uses far less power than most. Plus the Internet services (Netflix, Amazon, etc.) are handy if you don’t have an Apple TV or Blueray player that already has them. Naturally you’ll have to look around for the size and features you need, and the TV market changes every year.
